Start reducing the number of sprays/day Continue to reduce the number of sprays/day Stop using NICORETTE® QUICKMIST® Maximum dose: 2 sprays/time; 4 sprays/hr; 64 sprays/day By the end of week 9, patients should be using half the number of sprays/day as in Step 1 By week 12, patients should be using no more than 2-4 sprays/day It is important to complete treatment. If you feel your patient needs to use NICORETTE® QUICKMIST® for longer than 6 months to keep from smoking, reassess your patient.
If your patient is using NICORETTE® QUICKMIST® while trying to quit smoking but they slip up and have a cigarette, instruct them that they should not stop using the NICORETTE® QUICKMIST®. They should keep using it and keep trying to quit.
If the amounts of NICORETTE® QUICKMIST® your patient is taking do not help them stop smoking, reassess them and explore about using more than one type of nicotine replacement therapy at the same time.
